Keep Your Focus on God

“But my eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute” (Ps. 141:8).

Whatever you focus on, the bigger it becomes. So, if your focus is more on God and what His Word says about you, the bigger He will become in your life. But if your focus is on your unfortunate circumstances, then the bigger your circumstances are going to become.

You may say, “I know what the Word says, but this happened to me,” or “but I’m single with children,” or “but my husband left me….” You have to get rid of the “buts” in your life. I’m telling you that when you put your “buts” next to the Word of God, the “buts” will disappear because God’s Word is greater.

You can’t use them as excuses not to get in the Word. If you’re concentrating on your “buts” in life then your focus is magnifying the problem and not magnifying God.

Always remember that your circumstances can’t get rid of themselves, but God can rid you of your circumstances.

God wants to be involved in every area of your life. He wants to show up on the scene, but you have to invite Him in. God isn’t going to force Himself into your situation. You have to give Him liberty to set you free in every area that challenges you.

When you set your focus on God, He gets bigger and bigger, and His Word explodes in your life—instead of the problems exploading in your life. He can show you exactly what to do to have victory.

Remember this, all circumstances in life are temporary—they have to go!

Focusing on God means putting His Word to work in your life; it means personalizing and making the Word real in your life. Then you have to do it His way.

Only God’s way provides victory over circumstances. Always remember the devil has no power over you. Keep your focus on God and you will have victory over every circumstance in your life.

Psalm 121:1-8:  I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Victory for the believer comes in knowing and choosing God’s truth.

“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies, nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand, in her left hand are riches and honor.”
Proverbs 3:13 – 16
